Keeping Us Safe

Dr. Rachel Lawless and all of the staff are so pleased to welcome all of our patients back as of June 1st 2020.

Your safety and the safety of our staff are our number one priority.  Along with our usual high standards set by the CDC, Provincial Health Officer, Canadian Dental Association, BC Dental Association, CDSBC and WorkSafe BC you will notice additional protocols have been added.

Before You Arrive

Patients will be contacted and asked a series of questions before their appointment is booked. Please contact the dental office immediately to cancel your appointment if you become unwell or have any flu like symptoms, have traveled outside BC or have been in contact with someone or suspect someone with COVID 19.

On Arrival

Upon your arrival to the clinic, please enter.  You do not have to wait outside.

Please bring a mask or one will be provided unless you have an underlying condition that prohibits you from wearing one.  You will be asked to either wash or sanitize your hands.  A form will also be provided for you to fill in called a Patient Acknowledgement form.  See the icon below.

Your temperature will be taken with a thermometer.  All staff will also have answered the same set of questions and have had their temperature taken each morning before starting work.

What We’re Doing

  1. Reception has been fitted with Plexiglass shields. Staff will be wearing enhanced personal protective equipment and areas will have been cleared of anything that cannot be cleaned.  Please follow the direction of the staff as we know this is all new and you will already feel nervous.
  2. Increased disinfection routines have been added to our protocols between patients and at night as well as Hepa Air Filtration and Disinfecting Foggers to help remove germs and enhance disinfection.
  3. Longer appointment times, reduced patient numbers and an oral rinse for 60 seconds have also been introduced. High volume suction and the use of a rubber dam will also help to reduce airborne particles within the treatment room.

Keeping All of Us Safe

We reiterate that these measures are for your safety and the safety of our staff.  We hope that they will be temporary and that life can get back to normal in the not too distant future.  Thank you to everyone for your patience, kindness and extremely generous spirit during these unprecedented times.

Dr. Rachel Lawless and the staff of Shawnigan Dental Health Centre thank you from the bottom of our hearts and feel so grateful and humbled to live in such a wonderful community that we all call home.
